Holy and Profane
21.11.2015 – 13.12.2015
The 2015 edition of Photolux is dedicated to the eternal dualism that rules the world, that contrast between the sacred and the profane, good and evil, truth and lie, beauty and misery that is inherent in the very soul of man.
Telling it through photography allows, on the one hand, to make a journey around the world, which is also an inner journey, to discover the places of the spirit and the men who animate them, experiencing a tension towards the divine from time to time different and always fascinating.
On the other hand, to re-read sacred iconography in a desecrating or provocative way, to venture into areas generally considered unrepresentable, confronting the most earthly impulses and feelings of the human soul and its aberrations.
Without neglecting everything in between, in the subtle shades that always color contrasts that cannot be clear.
The photographic medium, therefore, as a privileged language to reveal this duality and investigate its various possible declinations and interpretations.
