CAROLINE HUNTER

Caroline Hunter is a picture editor for The Guardian weekend magazine, the award-winning saturday supplement to The Guardian newspaper. She regularly commissions photography from around the world to produce a wide range of images, from concept covers to reportage and documentary photography.
After studying fashion journalism, photography and a BA (hons) degree in English Literature, Caroline began her career at GQ magazine. She has worked at the Telegraph magazine as a picture researcher and at Emap publications and Time Out London as a picture editor. She has almost 20 years experience of commissioning and reviewing photographers’ proposals for feature stories.
She has lectured on documentary photography to undergraduates and is regularly invited to review portfolios at festivals (Photo España, Toronto’s Contact Festival, Ojodepez photo-meeting and Photolux Festival in Lucca).
She has worked as a freelance producer for a US design agency and is currently a photography consultant for the new digital magazine, The Long and Short.
Caroline has also acted as a judge for a number of photography competitions including the Ojodepez Award for Human Values and Amnesty International Youth Awards.
She is interested in a wide range of work – particularly documentary photography.

ALICE GABRINER

Alice Gabriner is the International Photo Editor at TIME magazine, a position she held previously from 2003-2009.
Prior to rejoining TIME, Gabriner was a Senior Photo Editor at National Geographic magazine, and before that, she was the Deputy Director of Photography in the Obama White
House. During her ten-year tenure at TIME from 1999-2009, she led the photo department during the 2008- 2009 election and inauguration of President Barack Obama. She oversaw the magazine’s award winning coverage of the Iraq War, and she worked with TIME‘s notable team of photographers during the Presidential election in 2000. Over a 20-years career at newsweeklies, she has covered national and international news. The photographers she has worked with have been recognized by the Overseas Press Club, the ICP Infinity Award, and multiple ASME, World Press Photo and POYi awards. Gabriner has curated photography exhibits around the world, and she has been a member of numerous photo juries and portfolio reviews.

MAIRA DUDAREVA

Maira Dudareva is the head of the Latvian Museum of Photography.
She has a long experience in photography. She has worked as Manager of photo archive for the daily newspaper Diena (1999 – 2008), Manager of photo department for the daily newspaper Diena (1998 – 1999), Photoreporter for the newspapers Zemgales zinas and Zemgales avize (1992 – 1998).
She did her MA – research “Digital photography indexation” at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Latvia, where she is still enrolled in post graduate programs. She has curated both Latvian and international exhibitions. She is a lecturer at Latvia Culture College and a portfolio reviewer.

GIULIA TICOZZI

Giulia Ticozzi lives and works in Milan. She works on images, art and theory of photography and she realizes laboratories, photographic researches and public art projects.
She worked for the Italian photographer Francesco Jodice as an assistant and for the Italian web magazine Il Post.
She exhibited her work in and collaborated with some important Italian institution such as Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea di Cinisello Balsamo, Istituto Beni culturali Emilia-Romagna, Careof and vFondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin.
She currently teaches history of photography at Riccardo Bauer, Milan and collaborates with “Exposed” project and the daily newspaper La Stampa.

MARCO PINNA

Marco Pinna is editor of National Geographic Italia since its foundation in 1998, photoeditor and journalist specialized in photography.
He has been a member of the jury for several international photography awards; he holds workshops about photography and photoediting and he is regularly invited as a portfolio reviewer all around Italy. He is a curator and a photography and editorial consultant for professional photographers. He founded the blog “Fuori Fuoco” on the website nationalgeographic.it. He’s has been always interested in emergent photography.

REBECCA SIMONS

Rebecca Simons is Senior Producer and Project Manager at World Press Photo. In 2004, she got her MFA in photography at Post-St. Joost, Avans University, Breda and in 2012, her MA at Film and Photographic Studies, Leiden University.
Since 2009, Rebecca is working at World Press Photo. Among other projects, she coordinates the annual Joop Swart Masterclass. As a producer she has been responsible for several exhibitions, books and online productions, the latest being Stories of Change, beyond the ‘Arab Spring’. Next to her work at WPPh Rebecca also coordinates international art projects, and has initiated projects like El-Art, with the goal of integrating entrepreneurial learning in European art schools. In the past, next to freelancing as a photographer, she has worked five years as an educator of photography and new media. She is currently based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

MINDAUGAS KAVALIAUSKAS

Mindaugas Kavaliauskas is the founder and director of KAUNAS PHOTO. After studying at Kaunas Photography School (1989-1992), obtaining Bachelor and Masters degrees in Art History at Vytautas Magnus University (1992-1996, 1996-2000), residential studies at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie (Arles, 1997-1998), Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (Paris, 1998), University of Lausanne (Switzerland, 2000-2001) and working as an intern at the Musée de l’Elysée (Lausanne, 2001), in 2004 he founded KAUNAS PHOTO festival, that he has been directing ever since. KAUNAS PHOTO is the longest-running art photography festival in the Baltic states. It focuses on works of emerging photographers and great underexposed photography from all over the world.
Mindaugas Kavaliauskas is photographer, curator, consultant, publisher of photography. He has been teaching photography in different universities, schools and consulting artists. He has curated a number of exhibitions in photographic festivals, galleries, museums in Europe and Asia – Pacific region: FotoGrafia (Rome), Fotohonap (Budapest), Photaumnales (Beauvais, France), Photodemer (Vannes, France), Backlight (Tampere, Finland), Pingyao and Lishui festivals (China), Auckland festival of photography (New Zealand) etc. He reviews portfolios in festivals, such as Fotofest (Houston), Photo Espana (Madrid), Eyes-On (Vienna), Rencontres d’Arles (France) and also in KAUNAS PHOTO, with its own portfolio review competition KAUNAS PHOTO STAR and on-line portfolio review platform folioPORT.org.

CLAUDIO CORRIVETTI

Claudio Corrivetti is founder and director of the Italian publishing house Postcart.
He was born in Rome in 1960 from Neapolitan parents. He started to photograph in 1977 with an OLYMPUS OM1 camera. He worked as a photographer for newspapers, magazines and cinema. In 1994 he founded the publishing house Postcart, specialized in photobooks.
Postcart catalogue included more than 100 photobooks and several series such as “Postwords”. Since 2011 all the books are distributed worldwide. Some of Postcart’s books – Anima russa by Davide Monteleone, Terre di sud by Emiliano Mancuso, Protagonisti by Sandro Becchetti, Buenos Aires Cafè by Lucia Baldini, Bosnian Identity by Matteo Bastianelli, Memoria by Palmera e Bianchi, Voci by Carmelo Bongiorno, Fault Lines by George Georgiou, L’unico eri tu by Stefano Giogli, Genti di Dio by Monika Bulaj – have won national and international awards.

LUCY CONTICELLO

Lucy Conticello is director of photography at M, the newly redesigned weekend magazine of Le Monde, since 2011.
Studied archeology, art history and photography in Rome. A chance encounter brought Lucy to work as an assistant photo editor for a newly minted newsweekly Liberal. She then followed an intense course in photography practice and history at the Maine Photographic workshops in Rockport, Maine and later went on to pursue a career as a photo editor, critic and lecturer in New York, Rome and Paris. Lucy has been assigning photographers for several years now; what she loves most is the creative process of pairing photographers with stories, brainstorming ideas and seeing how these pictures end up defining these articles. She has worked for Business Week, The New York Times, l’Espresso, The New York Times magazine, Courrier International, The IHT as well as photography agencies such as Sipa Press, Magnum Photos and –briefly, the AFP. With M has since won several prizes: “Magazine of the year 2011”(Prix du Club des directeurs artistiques, catégorie presse magazine) and two “Magazine of the Year” prizes in 2013 (the Grand Prix des Médias de CB News prize and The Prix du Syndicat des éditeurs de la presse magazine).

IRENE OPEZZO

Irene Opezzo is a photo editor of italian daily newspaper La Stampa, where she works as a producer and iconographic researcher.
He studied Design at Politecnico, Milano and Photography at CFP Bauer. He started working with photographers in Berlin and Bruxelles, for some fashion magazines and with Alessia Glaviano at Vogue Italia, focusing his work on news, art, photography and events. In 2010 she moved to Torino where she started working at La Stampa. She regularly gives assignements for reportage in Italy and abroad. She works in the network “Europa” that involved Le Monde, El País, The Guardian, Gazeta Wyborcza and Suddeutsche Zeitung.
In 2015 he worked as Photo Editor at Vice News, Los Angeles and worked with the journalists and video producers of the project by Jason Mojica.

JIM CASPER

Jim Casper is editor-in-chief and co-founder of the web magazine LensCulture.

BENEDETTA DONATO

Benedetta Donato is an indipendent curator.
She is the president of the cultural association pianoBI, for which she curated and produced several photographic project. Among them 100”click 4 Change, the first Italian exhibition of the international network of social photography Shoot4Change, an institutional project for Festival di Fotografia in Rome and Fotografia Europea in Reggio Emilia.
In 2010 she became a member of Consulenti Esperti of ICCD – Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism.
For Giart she has been Art Curator for exhibition and editorial projects of Maurizio Galimberti and she curated his exhibitions EXTRA_VAGANTE, Frammenti, Parigi and Paesaggio Italia/Italyscapes, an exhibition and book (published by Marsilio) about Italian landscape. The exhibition, first presented in Venice, has been shown in several venues and ended in New York.
For Maurizio Galimberti she also curated Metamorfosi. La città che sale, a project and a catalogue about Milan, presented in the occasion of EXPO 2015. She curated the exhibition INDUSTRIA by Niccolò Biddau at DaDAEAST Gallery in Milan and in the occasion of the XIIIth edition of Corigliano Calabro Fotografia.
She collaborates with contemporary art galleries, institutions and art events. She is a contributor of IL FOTOGRAFO magazine, for which she interviews the great masters of international photography.

DAPHNÉ ANGLÈS

Daphné Anglès is a franco-american picture editor for The New York Times in Paris.
She was secretary to the World Press Photo’s annual contest jury from 2009 to 2013 and a master at the Joop Swart Masterclass in 2000. She is on the jury of photography awards such as Eurazeo, Photolucida, Humanitarian Visa d’Or, Yves Rocher Foundation, Canon for Female Photojournalists, AFD Photo Contest, International Sportsfolio Award. She is a nominator for Prix Pictet and a portfolio reviewer at Les Rencontres d’Arles, Hamburg Triennale, Visa pour l’Image. She has curated photography exhibitions at Central-Dupon (Paris) and taught an Editing and Visual Storytelling masterclass for Photolux Festival.

TEUN VAN DER HEIJDEN

Teun van der Heijden is a graphic designer and co-owner of Heijdens Karwei.
Heijdens Karwei is a graphic design agency based in Amsterdam, known for the design of award-winning photography books such as Rape of a Nation by Marcus Bleasedale, Latitude Zero by Monique Stauder, Black Passport by Stanley Greene, Interrogations by Donald Weber, What We Wear by Pieter van den Boogert, Diamond Matters and Via PanAm by Kadir van Lohuizen, War Porn by Christoph Bangert, Gold Coast by Ying Ang and recently Inshallah by Dima Gavrysh. Heijdens Karwei is also designing the World Press Photo yearbooks and exhibitions for more than 10 years.
Teun van der Heijden has given guest lectures at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Art Academy St. Joost in Breda and is external examiner at the ABKMaastricht in Maastricht. He has taught workshops for ISSP in Estonia, for the Trans-Border Institute of the University of San Diego and ICP in the US, for Lagos Photo in Nigeria, for Linke Gallery in Milan, 10b Gallery in Rome and for TPW in Tuscany, Italy, for Chobi Mela in Bangladesh and for World Press Photo in Estonia and Angola. Teun is one of the judges of the ‘prize for innovatory journalism’ of the Zilveren Camera (Silver Camera), the annual Dutch photojournalism award. He will be one of the Masters in the 2015 World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass.

MAURIZIO REBUZZI

Maurizio Rebuzzini is publisher and editor in chief of FOTOgraphia, a monthly magazine about photography, since May 1994, and of its web version www.fotographiaonline.com since 2010.
He teaches History of Photography at Università Cattolica, Brescia. He has been the curator of the section dedicated to photographic cameras of the Alinari National Museum of Photography in Florence. He writes about photography in specialized magazine since 1972. He writes about technique, photographic language and tradition.

ANNE FOURES

Anne Fourès graduated at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles. She has worked and works to the organization of several international festival of photography such as Angkor Photo Festival (Cambodia, 2006 and 2007); Les Rencontres d’Arles (France, from 2003) as Photo Folio Reviews coordinator; Cosmos Arles Book and Luma Rencotres Dummy Book Award. She teached history of photogaphy for International European Studies and cultural mediation applicated to photography for Les Rencontres d’Arles. He regurarly coordinates laboratories and workshop of photography.

AMBER TERRANOVA

Amber Terranova is an independent photo editor and educator based in New York. She is currently the north american marketing manager for Schilt Publishing and executive producer for Screen Projects.
Until recently she was a contributing photo editor at People and The New Yorker, and from 2008 to 2012 she held the position of Photo Editor for Photo District News (PDN), the leading magazine for professional photographers. Previously, she held positions at New York Magazine and Outside magazine. In 2013 Amber was the interim Director at the Bilder Nordic School of Photography in Oslo.
As a BFA faculty member at The School of Visual Arts, she is committed to photography education and to helping photographers realize their creative and career potential. She teaches photography workshops in the US and Europe, and is a guest lecturer at several institutions. In addition, she has judged a number of international photo competitions, including Review Santa Fe, Photolucida’s Critical Mass, International Photography Awards, Fotovisura, APA, and the Tierney Fellowship, among others.

DARIA BONERA

Daria Bonera was born in Milan. After graduating in Fashion Marketing from St Martins School in London, she started working for Contrasto Photo Agency in Milan. In 2004 she moved to Grazia Neri’s Photo Agency, where she represented several international agencies and photographers and she selected new photographers for the Agency.
In 2008 she went to New York to work as the agent of documentary photographer Donna Ferrato and representing Grazia Neri’s photographers all through the US, while collaborating with the major publications.
In 2009, she came back to Milano and founded her Agency, DB, where she represents a few selected documentary, fashion photographers, film directors and illustrators for fashion, advertising and corporate work.
She is a producer and photo consultant for editorial project and advertising campaigns in Italy and worldwide.
She taught at the workshop The Flying Course with Stanley Greene in Paris and at Love Venetian Style: an Intimate View with Donna Ferrato in Venice.
She has been invited as a portfolio reviewer at Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles, Cortona On The Move, Passion & Profession, Festival della letteratura di viaggio, PhotoPlus Expo in New York, Lugano Photo Days and as a member part of the Jury for the “Prix de la Photographie Paris” Px3, Czech Press Photo Contest, IPA International Photography Awards, Croatia Press Photo, Travel Photographer of the Year, International Color Awards, Prince Claus Awards and as a nominator for the Prix Pictet.
She teaches visual communication at John Kaverdash School of Photography in Milan.

DIMITRI BECK

Dimitri Beck is the editor-in-chief of the Paris based photojournalism magazine, Polka.
Dimitri has been part of the executive management of Polka since 2008, contributing to the development of the magazine, gallery and website.
During his spare time Dimitri gives lectures on photojournalism at conferences and educational institutes.
Prior to working at Polka, Dimitri was the Director of the Aina Photo Agency based in the Afghan capital Kabul from September 2004 to December 2006, where he was also the Editor-in-chief for the Anglo-French feature magazine Les Nouvelles de Kaboul – New Afghanistan. His thirst to travel to Afghanistan was inspired when he was working as editor-in-chief of Reza Deghati’s photo agency “Webistan”.
His love for photojournalism started in the Caucasus mountains of central Asia at a young age when he started out as an independent journalist filing reports to French and international media outlets.

ELENA BOILLE

Elena Boille is vicedirectorand photo editorof the magazine Internazionale.
Graduated in History of Art, she is a journalist and co-founder of the Italian magazine Internazionale. She is head of photographic department and science pages.
She has judged a number of international photo competition, she has teached photo editing for the postgraduated course of Nuovi giornalismi at Luiss Business School in Rome and she teaches photography workshops.

ALESSANDRA CAPODACQUA

Alessandra Capodacqua was born in Napoli. A self taught photographer since 1977, she teaches photography in italy and abroad.
From the Nineties she works with pinhole and toy cameras such as Holga and Diana.
She constantly expands her artistic development by experimenting and mixing new digital technologies such as iPhoneography, analog photography and alternative printing processes.
She teaches Photography at New York University, Florida State University, Istituto Europeo di Design and Fondazione Studio Marangoni in Florence. She has curated photo exhibitions in Italy and abroad and she is regularly invited to portfolio reviews. Her photographs are in private and public collections, including the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence.

BARBARA SILBE + MANUELA CIGLIUTTI

Barbara Silbe is co-founder and director of the new magazine EyesOpen!
She writes about photography, technology and culture for the Italian daily newspaper il Giornale and for many Italian magazine such as Style, Il Fotografo, Espansione and Digitalic. As a photographer she has worked for important companies such as HP, Bosch, Adobe, Trend Micro, Google, Segafredo Zanetti and she collaborates with Portfolio Mondadori and with the magazines of the same publishing company. She’s specialized in portraits, travel and urban reportage. She has a photography blog on the website of il Giornale. She lives and works in Milan.

Manuela Cigliutti is co-founder and artistic director of the new magazine EyesOpen!
She was born in Savona in 1975. She studied and gradueted in Pedagogy. While working for a multinational company she studied photography at Istituto Italiano di Fotografia in Milan and started to collaborate with some photographic agencies as a photographer (getting important international awards such as WPGA and Aperture Foundation) and then as photoeditor and curator. From 2010 to 2013 she worked for Witness Journal, the first Italian web magazine about photojournalism, as a photoeditor. He teaches Editing in some schools and photographic clubs in Milan and PhotoTherapy in a centre for drug-addicted and children at risk.
