CAROLINE HUNTER


Caroline Hunter is a picture editor for The Guardian weekend magazine, the award-winning saturday supplement to The Guardian newspaper. She regularly commissions photography from around the world to produce a wide range of images, from concept covers to reportage and documentary photography.
After studying fashion journalism, photography and a BA (hons) degree in English Literature, Caroline began her career at GQ magazine. She has worked at the Telegraph magazine as a picture researcher and at Emap publications and Time Out London as a picture editor. She has almost 20 years experience of commissioning and reviewing photographers’ proposals for feature stories.
She has lectured on documentary photography to undergraduates and is regularly invited to review portfolios at festivals (Photo España, Toronto’s Contact Festival, Ojodepez photo-meeting and Photolux Festival in Lucca).
She has worked as a freelance producer for a US design agency and is currently a photography consultant for the new digital magazine, The Long and Short.
Caroline has also acted as a judge for a number of photography competitions including the Ojodepez Award for Human Values and Amnesty International Youth Awards.
She is interested in a wide range of work – particularly documentary photography.
