BURMA — CAROLINA SANDRETTO

in collaboration with Progetto Vitalità NGO

“Burma is one of the most interesting and complex countries I have visited during my journeys. I decided to document the lives of the monks, who have played a key role in the safeguard of religion and of active political force, visiting various monasteries and observing their daily lives. It has been a great privilege and a gift for me to live among them. I was curious to see how they spent their days paced by religious rites; I wanted to photograph them as they are very special people living on the boundary between the human condition and spiritual bliss. The monks no longer participate in politics and are back to their religious role and preserve the traditions of a country now full of promise for the future. “
