Lartigue did what no other photographer ever did, before or after him: he photographed his own life. Like he knew, from the very first years, that it’s the little things which hold the real secrets of life.
Jacques Henri Lartigue (Courbevoie, France, 1894 – Nice, 1986) first approached photography thanks to his father, who gave him his first camera when he was seven. His first photography, taken in complete autonomy, is dated 1902.
