Martino Marangoni was born in Florence in 1950. In 1972 moved to New York and studied photograpy at Pratt Institute until 1975. Since then he has been teaching photography first at Studio Art Center International an international school in Florence and in 1991 founded Studio Marangoni Foundation (FSM) with intention of promoting the Art of Photography. It is non-profit organisation which provides high quality and varied education programs for national and international students. He also organises exhibitions, workshops and events for the School and its gallery. Since 1999 FSM has been the Florence photography department of both New York University and Sarah Lawrence College Study Abroad Programs. After the formation of ‘Friends of Studio Marangoni’ in 1995 a program of exhibition exchanges between Italy and the USA was initiated and following this Marangoni became a member of the International Photo Curators Association (Oracle) and since 2010 of SPE, the Society of Photographic Education in the USA.
