With a Fine Art degree in Art History Clelia Belgrado approaches photography in 1997 and two years later she meets Doug Beasley by attending his courses at the Photographic Arts Retreat Center in Minnesota, thus beginning a research of the various ethnic groups and cultures of the peoples of the Americas (Mexico, Guatemala, Peru and the Lakota Sioux Indian reservations in South Dakota and Navaho and Hopi in Arizona). She has exibited in numerous solo and group shows including “Mynanmar, Birmania: Luce, Acqua, Presenze” with the presentation of photobook “Myanmar” published by Silvana Editoriale, Castello D’Albertis – Museum of World Cultures, Genoa. Since 2008 she has been directing VisionQuesT contemporary photography. The gallery takes its name VisionQuesT from the Native American cultures tradition and it is a rite of passage, a cry for a vision. Usually a journey into the wilderness seeking personal and spiritual guidance, an inner revelation – a vision – which grants profound meaning and direction to life. To carry this quest, the same sense of vision, towards a place where different journeys into photography can be seen and enjoyed by all. Exhibitions, photography and contemporary art fairs, catalogue publishing, book presentations, conferences, meetings with photographers, curators, critics and writers, workshops and portfolio reviews as well as collaborations with several institutions such as National Museums and Galleries.
