Born in Milan in 1968, after a degree in History of Theatre at Università degli Studi di Milano, Alessia Paladini started her first steps in the art world in 1992, working for the Contemporary Art Department at Sotheby’s auction house. From 1998 to 2005 she worked as gallery director at Photology, a pioneering gallery in the fine art photography market in Italy. In 2005 she started her collaboration with Contrasto, first within Forma Centro Internazionale di Fotografia, where she created Forma Galleria; after the change of location of Forma, which turned into a non profit foundation, she continues her activity in the group as the director of Contrasto Galleria. Year after year, Contrasto Galleria has become the reference point for photography collectors both in Italy and abroad, also thanks to the participation in important fairs such as ArteFiera Bologna, Photo London, Paris Photo. She has curated many photographic exhibitions, both of masters and less known artists: Mario Giacomelli, Sebastião Salgado, Irene Kung, Massimo Siragusa, Alessandro Imbriaco, Kenro Izu, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Piergiorgio Branzi, Elliott Erwitt, Alex Webb, Bill Armstrong, Herbert List, Janet Sternburg, artists that Contrasto Galleria represents and of which the gallery promotes the work both in Italy and abroad. Her approach to photography is focused particularly on collectors, their needs and choices and on the market. She is the mother of two fantastic boys and she is a passionate runner. She loves travelling and reading.
